EYFS & OUR CURRICULUM

Learning & Development

HELPING YOUR CHILD REACH THIER FULL POTENTIAL

Curriculum Overview

At Aedas Angels Childcare, we are deeply aware of the critical role a positive start plays in a child's early years. We prioritise the establishment of secure and nurturing relationships with both children and their families, fostering an environment where confidence and safety thrive. Our curriculum is designed to be a solid foundation for future learning, acknowledging the diverse needs and interests of each child within an enriching and stimulating setting that cultivates creativity and a genuine passion for learning. Key areas of emphasis in our curriculum are communication and language, as well as personal, social, and emotional development. We maintain high expectations for all children, recognising their unique abilities and personalities. Our curriculum serves as the cultural capital, equipping our children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary for their onward educational journey.

The EYFS

We align our curriculum with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Development Matters. The Early Years curriculum encompasses seven interconnected areas of learning, categorised into Prime and Specific areas.

The Prime Areas: These are crucial in engaging children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, nurturing their ability to form relationships and thrive, and are further reinforced through the Specific Areas.

Specific Areas: We implement this curriculum guided by four principles: recognising the unique child, fostering positive relationships, creating enabling environments supported by teaching and guidance from adults, and promoting continuous learning and development.

All About Me

Upon a child's enrolment at Aedas Angels Childcare, we initiate the process by gathering valuable insights through an 'All about Me' collaboration with parents on Child paths. This provides a developing understanding of the child across the prime areas of the EYFS, encompassing their preferences, interests, and valuable parental insights. Subsequently, we invest time in observing children during play and interactions, reflecting on each child's individual learning and development. Our approach involves tailored and individualised next steps, regularly discussed as a team and shared with parents through child paths for collaborative support and reinforcement at home.

GUIDE FOR PARENTS

EAL & SEND

Our comprehensive and well-balanced curriculum design ensures that the specific needs of individual children, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and those facing disadvantage, are effectively met. Our graduated approach positively impacts children's outcomes through high-quality teaching and targeted interventions as needed.

We regularly review the progress of all children in our toddler room through open discussions and insights shared with parents. Our aim is to prepare children effectively for their upcoming educational phase, collaborating with local schools for a smooth transition. Continuous observations, assessments, and planned experiences ensure children's progress, with regular meetings involving parents. Reflective practices and ongoing professional development enhance our curriculum delivery, allowing us to implement support programmes effectively. The successful execution of our curriculum ensures meaningful progress for children, valuing each child's unique identity and promoting kindness, care, and a desire to excel.
